Breaking News:High Court Slaps Injunction On UDS SRC/NUGS Elections [Nyankpala Campus]

An injunction tion has been placed on the runoff SRC/NUGS elections on the Nyankpala campus of the University for Development Studies.

The election which was supposed to take place today, Friday, 29th March 2019 has been put to hold after the EC was petitioned by a candidate challenging the results of the elections.

Mr. Abubakari Abdul Halim filed a petition at the High court on thursday challenging the credibility of the elections. Mr Abdul Halim lost to Mr Elvis Ofori by a meagre margin for the SRC secretary position.

The Plaintiff

The outspoken man who will not let “water pass through his fingers” believes there was no too ways about him winning the elections against his opponent who was vetted out and later brought back by the committee. Mr. Elvis Ofori won by 50.19 percent of the total votes and was announced the winner.

The injunction has led to the EC posing a postponement on the elections until further notice.

Meanwhile the court is scheduled to look into the issue on 9th April 2019.
