This unanimous decision was reached after the SRC President, Mr. Sadik Alhassan Kilwa organised a student forum to debate on possible Projects that can be implemented with the SRC student development levy.

There were series of proposed projects by the SRC’s General Assembly. These projects:

1.Replacement of furniture at the lecture halls.

2.The opening of Campus Market Centre and Taxi station.

3.Solar energy construction for Auditorium and Great hall.

4.SRC Secretariat Complex.

5.Continuation of Pavement.

Although, the G.A is the highest decision body representing the student populace, the President thought it wise to bring the decision to the students level.

He lamented that” should the above —listed projects be rejected, we will go with any proposed project the students bring ”

He addressed students on the importance of building a secretariat that could represent students well. “Across the four UDS campuses, there is no reputable secretariat for SRC in any of the campuses”, He said. He continued “should an investor comes in to help, he needs to be welcomed in a comfortable and reputable environment in order to negotiate well”

As a unanimous decision was made on the construction of SRC Secretariat, he ended by saying ” the management of the school are insisting on continuing the pavement but we are going to tell them, this is what we want, this is what our students want period!”

He then urged students to rally behind their leader in pushing the agenda when the time comes.
