Violence Erupts As Zabzugu SHS Students Attack Teachers

Violence erupted last night (Tuesday, 8th of May, 2018) as a group of final year students of Zabzugu Senior High School attacked teachers at their residence. This is due to what the students described as “strict ” invigilation during their West Africa Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) . On the eve of their English oral paper, the students threw stones, sticks and anything they could lay their hands on at the teachers. It took police intervention  to bring the situation under control.

Our further checks revealed that it all started with a confrontation between one Mr. Spider( a teacher) and some final year students. This escalated when the  teachers tried to save their colleague from the students. They also alleged the teachers took money from them with the promise of helping them in their final exam and when it was not forthcoming, they decided to take matters into their own hands. Police had to fire warning shots to disperse the rioting students and return a state of calmness to campus.

In the process a flat-screen TV, a notice board and some other items at the staff room were destroyed.
